First shoot hair, makeup, and wardrobe by Kendra. We started out at 10 am In Wrightwood. then moved to Kendra’s house and later ended up at mine. behind the scene photos from this are great. the light stands to the strobe lights to the underpowered first-gen MacBook Air.
Check out these behind the scenes picture. I’m surprised I still have these
Sexy Black series. hair and makeup by Jessica. We entered these pictures in a contest by Westcott and got second place. Not bad.
The Red Queen. Ya middle of July I told Chantal that I wanted to go east and find big rocks. It was hot and humid but we went anyways. We stopped by GoodWill and found this dress for $2.00. YA! TWO BUCKS! Chantal got a belt and wrapped it around and boo ya! one of these pictures took first place in the AV Fair contest. (PROFESSIONAL DIVISION)
I spotted this blue house from the road one day when we were on the way out to shoot JBugs photos. Right away I got inspired to do a retro type “desert fashion” style shoot. So I went online, got some ideas and sent them over to my favorite Chantal. Together we threw some ideas out there, set a date and off we went in the hot middle of the day. Fun fact: Chantal just had her first baby, Niko a few months before.
Gatsby Inspired. Another shoot with Kendra and Chantal. It’s still one of my favorites to date. Such my favorite, I’ma link it HERE and the video HERE.
Cher her out on Vogue.it
Desert Fashion. $20.00 budget and a few Thrift Stores (second-hand stores).
Dark Beautiful. Partly Inspired by fashion photographer Paolo Roversi‘s work. Chantal and I experimented with shooting into dirty dusty mirrors. Also using a skirt I made from tulle and a corset I got from eBay and headband from Jessica.
Chantal RAW. No, make no photoshop. A Note From Chantal
“It took me quite a bit of courage to put this picture up. I’ve been seeing so much body shaming recently (“fat and skinny” shaming), and I’ve experienced it a lot myself from and strangers and friends growing up. I’ve had a lot of health problems and unexpected weight loss, and my doctor and I are still trying to figure out the cause. Body shaming is hurtful for all women. As women, we all have insecurities, and instead of making remarks like “eat a cheeseburger” or “you’d look great if you lost like 20 pounds” be mindful of your hurtful words. In no way am I trying to troll for compliments, my message is to be weary of the things you say to people. Try giving a compliment to random strangers and see how their face lights up nobody is perfect, and you don’t know their situation. Rant over”
Ok, I will never forget this for two reasons or maybe three but I’m only mentioning this, on this day I learned that Forever 21 does not let you return clothes even though we left the price tags on. I do this a lot, buy clothes and return them but this one just didn’t let you. Forever 21 changed their policy now but back then, grr! Funny Fact: if you look closely at the bottom of the dress you can see the security tag that the store clerk forgot to remove. the second thing was. ALWAYS put weights on your light stands. The stand blew over and changed the shape of my beauty dish from a perfect circle to a taco shape.
Where Is My Mind? I wish I would have got some behind the scenes pictures or video from this. It was actually shot on my back porch with a giant black fabric a couple mirrors, c-stands, and water bottles.
check her out on Vogue.it profile.
The first test shoot with my Hasselblad camera. We also did an outdoor test shoot. Where I learned this camera is really heavy.
Chantal’s 30th Birthday Cake Bash… no other caption needed.
There’s a lot of interesting ideas floating around in my head, so stay tuned.
