In 2009 while in Greece for a couple of weeks, I left two of my friends and grabbed my iPod, my old Canon 1Ds mark II, few lenses and was on my way for a scary but so exciting photo-venture. Scary because I was by myself and didn’t speak a word of Greek, but exciting because I didn’t speak a word of Greek and I was by myself. 🙂
So after a long and sleepless eight-hour ferry ride from Rhodes and a twenty-minute cab ride, I was finally walking through the narrow streets of Oia, a small village located on a Greek island called Santorini. Hiking and exploring under the hot sun, seeing tons of the famous white painted houses with blue roofs, hotels with infinity pools that were built into the side of the mountain I came across this old house (it’s for sale btw). Every piece of glass in the window had been broken. No paint but what was left on the old weather rotted, sky blue, wooden door. held together only by a pair of old orangish brown rusty bolts.
When you first look at it, it looks kinda forgotten but then you realize that’s why it’s beautiful and perfect in all its loneliness.
