So I wanted to do a post on my digital darkroom set up.. Hey! I paid cash for everything for it all so I’m kinda proud of that and ya I’m showing it off. So I needed a photo of the MacPro and in the process of getting that shot I needed to take off everything from the desk ** btw don’t buy that desk with the back glass top from Office Depot. it looks cool but as you can see one of the wheels are broke and I had to stack some old Adobe “Classroom in a Book” books under it to keep the desk from tipping over. ** so when I cleared off the desk I saw there was dust and well normally I’m dusting the top of the desk every day but never really behind the monitor and the stand. So, handled that! No big deal! then I pull out (lol) and disconnect the MacPro and started cleaning the dust behind there. I just cleaned that last week!! ok fine, I’m cleaning that again.. then go to open up the computer before I set it on top of the desk, MORE DUST! damn!! ok, so I’m now carrying this 60-pound computer down some 20 stairs plug up the air compressor and begin taking it all apart. Hard drives, RAM, video cards, everything! all this for two pictures. OK that’s done, now to back up all those stairs but wait! what do I notice behind the desk? MORE DUST! this is getting a little bit annoying. So I roll out the 3 wheeled desks and notice the carpet is gray right here NASTY!!!! outcomes the vacuum cleaner and of course the little attachment isn’t working. Now I find my self-cleaning out the dust in the vacuum cleaner just so I can vacuum up more dust into it, all for two pictures. I get the computer on top of the desk, the monitor is on the floor, I get my shots, put everything back together, monitor back on top of the desk, computer plugged up and there’s no card in the camera. DAMN!
NORMALLY I have the shoot with card function on OFF so that does not happen, but last week I put some setting on my camera and didn’t know how to take it off so I cleared all custom functions. (good thing I that happened on this and not a real job).
So YA, I’d say all that was a bit overkill, and I didn’t even find any money when I was cleaning. 🙁
