Unlike most kids in high school, I never had to read F. Scott Fitzgerald’s The Great Gatsby book. Sadly to admit, I did not even know what it was about until The Great Gatsby movie came out in 2013. Don’t get it wrong I didn’t go to some crapy school or anything, we read tons of “great American novels” just not that one. I always wondered what the big deal was with the book and would have read it. but then, when I heard they were making a movie I said, Pshhhh! I’ll wait for the movie, and I loved it! I even watched the 1974 version of The Great Gatsby with Robert Redford and Mia Farrow and a bunch of other people. Also a really good movie.
Back in January, I told Kendra “Let’s do a Gatsby shoot” she was like 100% all for it. *that doesn’t always happen* So we scouted and posted to the Gatsby Pinterest board for ideas. and found tons. However, all the cool stuff like on Etsy was way overpriced. Like this one headband, it had the perfect Gatsby look that I would have loved to use. It was super cool but not $200.00 cool. So with some eBay shopping and some thrift store shopping. we were able to pull out a good 1920’s Gatsby look with our very very small budget. *in your face Etsy seller*
So here are a few of my favorite photos inspired by The Great Gatsby book and the 1920’s.
